Clack pH (backwashing) Systems (To Increase the pH)

Water with a pH below 7 is acidic and corrosive. Raising the pH will neutralise the water, removing the metallic taste and pipe corrosion, and can also reduce any iron or manganese contamination. The backwashing head has the advantage of remixing the media and removing any debris or iron/manganese. By backwashing the units stops the media compressing and stops it going hard which can happen with in/out systems.

Typically used with juraperle which is a filter fine granulation medium, on the basis of fossil limestone structures. It is applied to increase the pH of poor water, and possibly iron removal. During filtration, the free CO² is converted to bicarbonate and calcium is dissolved respectively. By this, the pH and hardness rate is raised. In addition, the iron is also filtered. Juraperle is a reactive media and during its use it is gradually dissolved by the water being treated and will therefore require periodic replacement.
